You can choose 4 to 5 seater SUV rental cars for a comfortable travel with family members in Dubai and beyond. For a larger group however you can choose 7 seater SUV rental cars for adequate seating capacity. Check out how to choose the right vehicle in Dubai here before booking to avoid traffic rule violations.

Matching Group Size and Luggage Space

Based on the number of passengers and luggages you need to select a rental car that best suits your purpose. Here is how to select a rental car in Dubai based on your need for seats and luggage space as per the family rental guide:

If you are traveling as a couple or solo with normal luggage, you can book a 2 seater vehicle from the economy car category for cost-effective driving in Dubai.

In case you are traveling with a group of up to 4 passengers, choosing mid-sized SUV cars can help you get adequate seating capacity. In addition, an SUV rental car with enough luggage space helps you avoid piling bags onto passenger seats.

If you are traveling with a large group or family members of up to 7 passengers, you can choose 7 seater car rental Dubai from the SUV car category. However, using the third row in a 7 seater SUV rental Dubai for family often reduces the luggage space for airport transfer.

Ensure you avoid overloading a family car rental in Dubai as it is strictly prohibited as per Dubai driving rules. For instance, you must not use a 7 seater vehicle for 8 or more passengers to avoid overloading.

Overloading a car is a traffic rule violation that attracts hefty fines, black points and car confiscation. You can further consider renting a sports car in Dubai for high performance driving with adequate seating capacity.

Child Seat Requirements in Dubai

If you are driving with a child below 4 years old, you must request for an approved child safety seat. Notably, a child seat is not pre-installed in any rental car. You must request one in advance and pay the necessary amount to drive in Dubai without traffic rule violation.

Moreover, children younger than 10 years old and under 145 cm tall must sit in the rear seats as sitting in the front seat is prohibited as per Dubai traffic rules. Violating the child seat car rental Dubai policy attracts a fine of AED 400 in addition to 4 black points.

Driving Factors to Consider in Dubai

Usually, SUV rental cars offer a higher driving position and a better air flow distribution for the passengers seated in the rear seats. This ensures a comfortable drive during the hot weather of summer months with high temperatures and heat.

Further, while full size SUV cars can be tight for older Dubai parking zones, a 7 seater or mid size SUV can help you navigate seamlessly in tight parking spaces with adequate room for family trips. Can a 7-seater carry seven people and their luggage?

It seats seven, but boot space shrinks a lot when the third row is in use, often leaving room for little more than small bags. If you have large suitcases, count luggage first and passengers second, and consider a van or a second car.

Q2. When is a van better than two cars?

A van suits a group of seven or more, heavy luggage, and one shared itinerary, since you get one driver, one parking spot and one rental. Two cars work better if people need different schedules or want to split up during the trip.

Q3. What size car works for a family of four with luggage?

A mid-size or full-size SUV is usually the safer choice, since a compact sedan boot can fill up quickly with two large cases. Check the boot space for your exact model before booking.

Q4. Do I need to add extra drivers in a group?

If more than one person will drive, add them to the rental agreement. Only listed drivers are normally covered by the insurance, so an unlisted driver could leave you personally liable after an accident.

Family car rental Dubai often offers adequate seating capacity and luggage space.
